WE STOP TRIPPING
A retired first-responder, a victim of a degenerative bone disease that affects his mobility, was beginning to trip on the carpeted hallway and stairs. It would only get worse as his condition progressed. He requested help from The Build Team to make getting around the house safer.
Volunteers pulled up the carpeting in the affected areas. We discovered that the stair treads were 2 x 12 construction lumber. That ruled out simple refinishing. We special ordered inch-and one-half slip-on treads that would cover the rough planks and give the stairs a really nice finished appearance. We found flooring for the hallway that matched the kitchen flooring adjacent to the hallway and commenced the makeover. More than just safe, the results add new polish to his home.
