The Build Team was born out of a shared vision to give back to the community. What started as a brief discussion on a Sunday afternoon, led five business and professional leaders to come together to help local families in financial need with essential home repairs. Organized in December, 2013 as an Illinois not-for-profit company (NFP), we received 501(c)(3) tax exempt status in August, 2014. The Build Team NFP began helping its first family in late-Spring of 2014. Since that time we have completed nearly 100 projects.

We provide an organized and confidential process for homeowners in financial and personal need to seek and receive essential home repair services in Northwest Cook and surrounding counties in Illinois. Individual and foundation donors provide money for tools and materials. Labor is essentially free, even the services of licensed electricians and plumbers, drywall mudders, and concrete and roofing specialists, when required, are usually donated. Using this model, The Build Team is able to turn every dollar donated into at least four dollars in actual repairs. A website review of our recent projects demonstrates that we constantly strive to complete our projects to the highest professional standards. As an IRS 501(c)(3) organization, all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable.
