WHAT WAS NEEDED

WINGS had a family with a 10-year-old boy needing a home that was wheelchair accessible. The build Team collaborates with WINGS on a regular basis, so without hesitation, we made that happen. To maintain proper slope, the ramp had to be a minimum of 40 feet in length. Big ramp! The only way we could preserve the appearance of the neighborhood was to build the ramp in back.

WHAT OUR VOLUNTEERS ACCOMPLISHED

Our plan required a new backdoor to a landing that connected to the ramp. We proposed adding a deck feature to the house off the boy's bedroom. So, door, deck, ramp. When completed, several volunteers remarked that they would like to have a deck as attractive at their homes. As we grow, our work as volunteers with newly acquired skills approaches the aesthetic and structural level of professional tradesmen. This was a beautiful solution.
