WHAT WAS NEEDED

A mother of a sizable family, abandoned by her husband, caring for three of her children who remained at home, two of whom had special needs, while trying to manage State Agencies taking care of a son in their custody, was witness to her home falling into serious disrepair. The most serious issue was water damage to her kitchen ceiling (it collapsed) due to ice damming on the upper roof.

WHAT OUR VOLUNTEERS ACCOMPLISHED

So, we tackled the roof issue first. Outwardly, the poor condition of the shingles and fascia was obvious, but the rotted wood we discovered under the shingles was alarming. We replaced the planks and installed ice and water shield on the first four feet of the roof and re-shingled. We replaced the fascia with PVC and installed gutters. Then installed a cable system to prevent any future damming. Take that, Winter!
