WHAT WAS NEEDED
We went to a home in Barrington at the request of BACOA to check on a roof leak. It was November. What we discovered was that the homeowner had no heat and no hot water. It was November! We know a guy—we had a new valve on the boiler and heat the next day. Three days later we installed a new water heater. Then we were told the toilet didn't flush and we saw that a wall was missing in the tub/shower. Egads!
WHAT OUR VOLUNTEERS ACCOMPLISHED
We know a different guy—got the toilet drain open. The toilet itself was leaking badly. We would have to pull it off the wall, repair the water damage and install a new toilet. Then we turned our attention to the tub/shower. Everything had to go. We gutted the alcove, redid the plumbing, and installed a new tub and shower surround complete with glass sliding doors. After the spring thaw we will finally get to the roof...why we went there in the first place. Squirrel!
