WE WANT TO HELP YOU ...

GetHelp

What The Build Team does is really pretty straightforward. We help homeowners who are struggling with financial, health, or disability issues, keep their homes "livable." In extreme cases, homeowners we helped faced eviction because of building code violations. Others simply couldn't afford basics—like hot water or a roof that didn't leak. Essential things most of us as homeowners take for granted.

The Build Team of volunteers wants to help homeowners whose circumstances have put their homes at risk or greatly compromised their quality of life.

Our COMPLETED PROJECTS section will give you a good idea of the assistance we have provided others.

...OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW

There is a great deal of pride in achieving home ownership—pride that often keeps homeowners-in-need from asking for help when they need help. That's when family and friends and church members and good neighbors have to step in and take action on the homeowner's behalf.

If you know that someone, here are the
qualifications a homeowner must have to get help:

• Own and live in the home in need of repair.
• Be current with their mortgage, homeowner’s insurance, and property taxes.
• Reside within Northwest Cook and surrounding counties.
• Demonstrate that they are financially or physically unable to complete the required repairs themselves.

Project Request May Include:

• Exterior repairs to roofs, doors, windows, etc.
• Plumbing repairs.
• Electrical repairs.
• Installation of handicap accessible ramps and railings.
• Other necessary home repairs.

Project May Not Include:

• Elective reconstruction or remodeling projects.
• Redecorating projects or unnecessary aesthetic changes.

If you know someone who may qualify for this program, please help them
complete our application.

All information will be kept confidential.
